Throughout Star Wars history, few are more important than Darth Bane.
The Dark Lord of the Sith would set up the infamous Rule of Two which would go on to forever be the formula for those of the dark.
A thousand years before the Clone Wars, the Jedi Order unleashed a devastating offensive that crippled the Sith.
The Jedi attack left every Sith dead…except one.
Darth Bane was the lone survivor and in his gift of life, he recognized a flaw in the system.
About as revolutionary as one could get, Bane decided to reorganize the Sith into a simple order of Master and Apprentice. No more no less.
It was he who came to the realization that in having no cap in the amount of Sith Lords running about, conflict would arise.
He understood that the Sith continued to fight for position within themselves and plot to overthrow each other rather than focusing on the Jedi.
As the Sith lineage condensed, Darth Bane granted the Sith a thousand years of secrecy and precious time to plot against their nemeses, the Jedi.
In the end, Bane was hunted down and defeated by the Jedi.
However, the Jedi believed the Sith died with Bane which of course we know, was not the case.
Characteristics
- A True Visionary (Strength, 98/100)-Darth Bane’s creation of the Rule of Two will forever go down as one of if not the most instrumental decisions ever made on behalf of the Sith. It was simply pure genius. The fact is, the Sith were getting way out of hand, they were extremely disorganized and were failing as a group to gain any ground at all against the Jedi. Although the move by Bane was a radical one for sure, it was completely necessary for the longevity of the Sith.
- Legacy (Strength, 96/100)- Darth Bane is immortal. Forget the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual states for a minute. He is immortal because every Sith from his time and on would forever forge on in the structure of his implementation. That takes true leadership, unfathomable command of the Dark Side and of course, sheer ingenuity.
- Orbalisk Armor (Strength, 95/100)- Darth Bane was one of the few beings who could ever withstand the immense responsibility and burden of the parasitic creatures. Basically what this suit of armor was made of small almost-invincible parasites that were sheathed in rock-like shells that were able to deflect almost anything including lightsabers. The creatures hung on to the host using thousands of teeth as they fed off the Dark Side of the Force within their host. This piece of armor that Bane used was incredibly powerful. It’s just another testament to Bane’s power.
- Can’t Escape the Inevitable (Weakness, 68/100)- Darth Bane was powerful indeed, but he could not escape the Jedi. To be fair, he wanted it to be just Master and Apprentice so of course the Jedi would have the upper hand. Bane knew he’d eventually be slayed but hoped to delay the act for as long as he could. Unfortunately, no amount of time would ever be long enough for him.
Intangibles
- Lightsaber (Strength, 94/100)- Darth Bane’s saber was so effective and powerful that it is said that it was virtually weightless. The sword was phenomenally crafted as it passed through many Sith Lord’s hands before it made its way to Bane.
Final Word
He might not be the strongest but Darth Bane is definitely one of the most critical. If this list were based purely off of legacy, achievements and contributions, Darth Bane would easily be in the top 3. His vision and desire for the Sith to persevere is top notch. Without his presence in the Sith, the Jedi would have been victorious in exterminating the Sith without difficulty. The thing is, the Sith have so much incredible, revolutionary thinkers and beings on their side that they always seem to motivate the Dark Side to evolve and to transform into something that is untraceable until it’s too late. But make no mistake about it, Darth Bane is about as influential in the Force as anyone before and after his time. The Sith are lucky he was on their side.
