The Lasting Power of Darth Bane

Throughout the Sith lineage the Galaxy has seen some tremendous eras.

From Andeddu, to Revan and Malak, to Malgus and Ruin, all the way to Darth Bane. The true Sith legends are few and far between, yet they helped shape the Force as we know it.

The Galaxy is forever tainted and permeated with the Dark Side thanks to these individuals.

Yet it’s Darth Bane who is the most significant.

The true beauty of Bane’s achievements and thought process is his innate ability to put his Order first.

I feel confident in saying Darth Bane had a direct effect on the Sith more than anybody.

To think that the Rule of Two was completely thought of, implemented and remained thanks to Bane is an achievement like none other.

Bane was a self serving, egomaniac yet still put the future of the Sith before himself even if it meant his own demise.

That type of behavior is completely unheard of from a Sith.

In a way, Bane had that aspect of his character in line with the Jedi and their own thought process.

In their selflessness and generosity, the Jedi and Bane had more in common than they would ever know.

Not only was Darth Bane a revolutionary but he was also a dominantly imposing bringer of death on the battlefield.

Standing at 2 meters tall Bane was a mountain of a man. His sheer brute strength was legendary and his ferocity unmatched.

Yet in addition to his massive size, he also boasted an agile and deceivingly quick repertoire.

Bane’s lightsaber mastery was one of the best. It was his swordsmanship that sets him apart from other Sith legends.

As he learned from one of the true elite lightsaber masters on Korriban, Darth Bane truly became an expert with his blade.

His tenacity, mindset and muscular frame made him an unstoppable force that wreaked havoc like a runaway storm.

My favorite aspect of Darth Bane’s arsenal of fearsome firepower was his Force lightning.

Described as crackling violet bolts of pure Dark Side singeing energy arcing through the air in a practically instantaneous manner, Bane’s devastation was relentless.

His diversity in his use of the Force lightning was fascinating as well.

In some instances he used it in short quick bursts to continuously barrage his adversaries and other times he gathered up his strength and power only to release a charge of thicker and even more vibrant strikes that would melt flesh and rip through solid rock.

img_5884

Bane’s willpower was a powerful part of his being.

His devotion towards his master plans required concentration levels beyond comprehension. Bane was not one to receive many visions of the future yet he was still able to piece together the groundwork that would eventually see the Sith rule the Galaxy.

I think it’s important to give Darth Bane the credit that he deserves.

To be an unparalleled fear-inspiring force on the battlefield is one thing but the fact that he was also extremely intelligent is something completely else.

Bane was a hunter of Sith artifacts in his pursuit of knowledge. He knew that the texts and scriptures of those gifted in the Dark Side that came before him would allow him to further the Sith and fortify himself.

It was none other than Darth Bane who was able to effectively use the ancient Sith technique of Darth Andeddu’s, the Essence of Transfer.

Revealed in Andeddu’s Sith holocron, Bane took advantage of its teachings and carried out its powers.

Unfortunately, at the end of the final trilogy of the Bane series we are left with a bit of a cliffhanger…

As Bane and Zannah, his apprentice, go at it to see who will be the future of the Sith, Bane attempts to take over her body.

In what almost seems inconceivable Bane completes the transformation and casts out his apprentice’s soul to the void.

Yet this is where it ends. From what I have seen, there is no more information on if this really is the case or if Bane ever dies..

All  I know is Darth Bane is a total bad ass and is one of the true legends of all time within the Sith.

Why It Was Absolutely Imperative For a Darth Vader Return in Rogue One

With exactly 173 days away from the next Star Wars feature, the world is preparing for its most unique and abstract storyline yet.

The first of its kind, Star Wars: Rogue One will take place immediately before A New Hope as the Rebellion scrambles to acquire plans for the Empire’s newest and most sinister weapon, the Death Star.

With a familiar feel of an original trilogy return, we are bound to see old friends and foes as they grace the screen with their fantastic presence.

Might we see a young Han Solo? Possibly.

A regal Princess Leia? Could be.

But that one character who we all can’t get enough of? Yes, he has officially been confirmed.

ea_star_wars_darth_vader.0

Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith, fallen Jedi and the faceless visage of evil will be a mainstay in Rogue One.

I’m not one to keep up with the endless swirl of rumors surrounding Star Wars but when this broke and the news was out that Vader will return, I found myself fist pumping and jumping to the skies.

It’s no secret that the popularity of Darth Vader has him forever etched in the pantheon of all-time movie greats but what does this do for Rogue One?

Does this change things?

To be honest and to put it rather bluntly, I think a lot of us knew this was coming for quite some time.

Regardless when it would announced however, this most definitely catapults this movie into rarefied air.

Darth Vader is to Star Wars as fireworks are to the Fourth of July.

He is the most important quintessential piece to Star Wars in any capacity.

Hey, there is a reason why the next trilogy (Ep. VII, VIII, IX) is based on Vader’s legacy…

What he brings to the table that the minds behind all Star Wars material realized is pure, untapped entertainment that can revitalize a previously visited time period that needed an extra spark.

Don’t get me wrong, even without Vader in Rogue One I still think the film would have been extremely successful.

But with the man in the suit donning the screens again Star Wars recaptures some of that original flare that made this franchise so dynamic.

all-you-need-to-know-about-star-wars-rogue-one-character-details-darth-vader-s-role-872313.jpg

In the last couple of months there has been talk of a “darker” Star Wars movie.

Something where brutality and mutilation are rampant and shrill screams of agony stained with the stench of fear are everywhere.

So I’ll say it again…Why is it important that Vader is in Rogue One?

Simple. Vader is fear, Vader is death, Vader is the human representation of all these emotions bundled together in a wrecking ball of a cyborg-like human being.

He brings to the table what the movie needs. Without reinventing the wheel, Rogue One has their swashbuckling villain all warmed up and ready to go.

Movies like these, and when I say “movies like these” I mean movies that are part of a longstanding series that are all in a single direction and then a new one comes along marching on a different path.

A movie like Rogue One needs a galvanizing force.

It needs someone who moviegoers will continuously sit on the edges of their seats desperately waiting for the first appearance of this attention-grabbing character.

Vader owns this factor and so much more.

Not to mention the fact that he is the perfect hunter to go after these “plan stealing Rebels” but hey, he ties the whole story together!

Darth Vader’s presence will elevate everything related to Rogue One and then some…

He’s a man of torture and results. Someone who enjoys others pain.

Ever since he was birthed by the fiery brimstone and molten lava rivers of Mustafar Vader has craved the brutal destruction of others.

With the Dark Lord, everything just adds up.

If you start to analyze what the movie would look like without a Darth Vader and maybe someone that is similar to Darth Vader in the form of a punisher, things start to look a little strange.

For starters, the timeline of the movie would mean that Vader is in his absolute prime. He’s at the height of his killing and mangling.

It would be at the point in time when he is still unaware of his offspring’s survival which therefore wouldn’t take up his time, the wounds and the death of Anakin Skywalker would still be relatively fresh in his mind and his orders by the Emperor would still be to spread fear.

Is it just me or does that almost sum up the Empire’s approach to Rogue One perfectly!?

I know I’m supposed to make a case why he must be in this movie but it’s virtually impossible to omit Vader from the script.

I mean, during this time in the Galaxy Vader is the face of the Empire emanating vile hatred.

To many of the people around the universe he is public enemy number one.

With that being said, of course Darth Vader will be in it!

If by some terrible mistake Vader was not in Rogue One, in being a Star Wars superfan I would see the movie no matter what.

But when you tell me that it’s going to be a “darker” more visual movie and Darth Vader will be a mainstay, you can count me in every day of the week.

Official Sith Pacify Power Rankings: #1

The 1st and top character for the Official Sith Pacify Power Rankings is…Anakin Skywalker!

Anakin Skywalker Overall = 99

For this case, I consider this version of Anakin Skywalker to be the man before he donned the suit.

He is the chosen one, he is what the prophecy speaks of, he is the greatest.

From the very first time Anakin Skywalker was introduced to us, we knew he was beyond special.

With the highest midi-chlorian count ever recorded in a force-user, Skywalker had the necessary foundation to launch himself to supreme dominance of cataclysmic proportions.

With fluidity and poise matched with never ending potential, Anakin was a light that was brighter than any other.

Yet with all his prowess, he was constantly tormented with relentless demons.

At the center of perfect irony, Skywalker was forced to make difficult choices. Choices that he would always regret.

From leaving his mother behind on Tatooine to struggling with his connection to Padmé as well as his undying quest to prove himself, Anakin Skywalker’s life would continue the trend of ups and downs.

But with all his pain he continued to progress in his abilities.

Day after day, week after week, Anakin’s command of the Force paired with his athleticism was truly eye opening.

Unfortunately for Anakin because of his lacky of humility and eccentric personality, his progress was met with cautious apprehension amongst his peers.

Always looking to be appreciated and loved Anakin inevitably fell in with the wrong crowd.

Of course it’s easy for us to say, considering Palpatine came across as nothing but a genuinely sweet and caring elderly man, he would inevitably be the final nail in the coffin that would be Anakin Skywalker and the birth of Darth Vader.

Characteristics

  • Athletic Ability (Strength, 100/100)- Perhaps only rivaled by his own son, no one could reach the heights of Anakin when it came to the feats that his body was capable of. Lean muscle absolutely pulsating with tremendous ability, strength, speed and power were all powerful tools that the young man was able to call upon. Even at such a young age he was keeping pace with legendary, grizzled Jedi veterans with little to no effort. The skill set of Anakin’s wasn’t unique, it was his age with his skill set that made him unique. It just goes to show, the talented Anakin Skywalker was one of a kind.
  • Force Unleashed (Strength, 100/100)- Characters like Yoda or the Emperor might have had more discipline or knowledge of the Force but it’s those like Anakin who are the most unpredictable and deadly. You know how some people have different levels of how hard they are battling? As in they’re about to “go into an extra gear”? Well Skywalker had no ceilings or limitations. Even when he didn’t know exactly what he was doing, he could still call upon the Force and unleash hell on anything that stood in his path to what he desired.
  • Art of the lightsaber (Strength, 100/100)- As if the very weapon was an extension of himself, Anakin’s mastery of a lightsaber is the epitome of impressive. His dazzling performances on the battlefields of the Clone Wars made the bloody conflict look almost like a performance of a musical presentation. The flowing light of the weapon, the gracefulness mixed with violent hammering was a thing of beauty. Also, because he was so physically gifted, he could truly call upon any form and dominate. That’s pretty rare, but when you find out it’s Anakin Skywalker who owns that ability, it’s almost expected.
  • Gift of Influence (Strength, 98/100)- Skywalker had the ability that allowed everyone around him to rise to the occasion. In the thick of battle Anakin just made those around him better. Through his energy and constant heart, his allies would subconsciously put in the extra effort and turn the dynamic of the team around from an already force to be reckoned with to an unstoppable wave. That’s what the great ones do, they allow those around them to grow and make no mistake, Anakin is the greatest.
  •  Emotional Ties (Weakness, 0/100)- As if it was a terminal illness, Anakin was the epitome of an emotional being. As I stated earlier, the losses of his mother, his embattled relationship between Padmé and the Jedi as well as his friendship with the Supreme Chancellor would eventually be his undoing. There was no escaping it. The moment young Skywalker, looking disheveled as ever, walked away from his mother on his home planet of Tatooine, a ticking time bomb initiated. His relentless search for love, belonging and appreciation would prove to be too much in the end as he would ultimately be consumed by his thirst for power and practically self destruct.
  • Youth and Ignorance (Weakness, 15/100)- To understand this weakness in Anakin’s character you have to look at him as a whole. He was a young teenager who was thrown into a position of real power and importance as he entered the Clone Wars. Never lacking confidence Anakin did his best and tried his hardest to always succeed. Of course someone as young as he was was bound to eventually fail. Now when this failure arrived, Anakin did not have the mental maturity to look at it as natural and inevitable. Instead he pushed himself to never fail, never lose and never be anything but the best. The effect this mindset had on Skywalker was devastating. Because Anakin knew and understood how exceptional he was, he was no stranger to insubordination. In fact, the young Jedi was often at odds with his superiors or just authority in general. Never able to appreciate his greatness as well as failing to follow simple orders, this was a recipe for disaster.

Intangibles

  • Rage (Strength/Weakness, 95/100)- Even though Anakin belonged to the Jedi, he always belonged more to his own ideals than anything else. Emotion or more specifically anger and hatred is something that is obviously frowned upon within the Order. But with Anakin, when pushed past his limits he would fully give in to his feelings and emotions and he would emerge as a fire-spitting, hate engulfed man hellbent on destroying anything in his way. We saw it when his mother was discovered and dies in his arms, we saw it when he returns to the temple after Order 66 initiates and we see it during his fateful bout with his longtime friend and former Master, Kenobi. The thing is, when Anakin would go into his rage mode, he lost touch with his Jedi side and almost became a rogue symbol of the Force itself. Although it gave him great power and extended his already amazing abilities tenfold, the overconfidence it instilled in him as well as the distorting of his reality might have turned this attribute into a weakness rather than a strength.

Final Word

At long last, the Sith Pacify Power Rankings are complete! To be honest, from the very beginning I had Anakin Skywalker locked in to the number 1 spot. Although I toyed with the idea of having Luke, Yoda and the Emperor at the top, Anakin was the final victor. I look at Anakin Skywalker and see two parts. I see someone who was so immensely powerful. Someone who could have gone on to be a Grand Master of the Jedi Order and not only have gone on to do great things for the Jedi but create a real sense of inclusiveness within the Galaxy. I could see him opening up relations between Force-users and everyday people. Skywalker could have bridged the gap between curious and fear-filled citizens to younglings and Jedi Masters. This would have been tremendous and could very possibly have guaranteed the public’s support for the Jedi and thus making them an all-time stalwart in society. The second part that I see when I look at Anakin is shameful disappointment. He was the most gifted Force-user ever, he was the most athletically inclined Force-user and he was incredibly intelligent! However, with all those abilities, he achieved very little. His record in battle was fantastic and he was of course known as this guy who was one of the best but raw. Yet, so little of his achievements were actually recognized mostly due to the fact that he was in his early 20’s when he left the Jedi Order. With Anakin you get the ultimate tale of irony. Someone who craved attention, who wanted to be loved and respected and when he finally gets what he’s always wanted, he cracks. If there’s one short line you should think of when Anakin Skywalker’s legacy is at hand it’s this: “Oh what could have been.”

Official Sith Pacify Power Rankings: #2

The 2nd character for the Official Sith Pacify Power Rankings is…Luke Skywalker!

Luke Skywalker Overall = 99

Unbeknownst to the world, a human on the deserted landscapes of the Tatooine wastelands grew a boy who would change the Galaxy forever.

From farmhand to the most powerful person alive, the legend of Luke Skywalker is as illustrious as it is unlikely.

Originally thought to be a nobody, young Luke took a leap of faith and soon discovered his true identity. He was a Jedi like his father before him.

The sheer talent that surged through Skywalker’s veins was just begging to be released, yearning for an opportunity.

At the Battle of Yavin, he received that chance…

As a young and inexperienced pilot, he faced off against the Death Star with so much on the line.

The result of failure meant the vaunted Rebellion, the very force that he looked up to so dearly would be completely exterminated.

It was kill or be killed and he was up against the biggest mechanical monstrosity that eyes had ever seen.

A gargantuan task  for anyone, the young boy obliterated the battle station and saved the day.

In doing so he took that next step. A step into the shadow of his father’s brilliance. A place he would have never known existed unless his very own father had not told him himself.

As the years followed, he continuously notched more and more unfathomable victories underneath his belt.

Establishing himself as an elite military general, completing his training as a Jedi and then eventually defeating the egomaniacal tyrant of the land in the Emperor.

Throughout his time in the spotlight, one thing Luke continued to resemble was a pillar of the finest light.

Definitively turning away from the beckoning calls of the Dark Side, silencing the infamous Emperor’s attempts to convert the Jedi to a Sith, he remained true to himself and true to everything he stood for.

Skywalker represented everything that was right about existence. A symbol of untouchable purity that could never be tainted.

To his very core, Luke Skywalker was a Jedi, he was one of the good guys, he was the very meaning of hope.

In a time of eternal darkness, Luke was a rallying call.

As the oppressive regime of the Empire continued to mangle the innocence, Luke became someone for people to believe in.

He became someone who people could follow into the depths of hell and as long as they stayed close to his side, avoid the scorching of devilish fire and brimstone.

The best of the very best are like magnets, they attract those around them.

Luke wasn’t just a magnet, he was the very essence that made the magnet, he was the truth.

Characteristics

  • Pure of Heart (Strength, 100/100)- Throughout Star Wars, you would be hard-pressed to find anyone at all who had better character than Luke. Always trying to do the right thing, never cutting corners and always following things through, Luke was a living and breathing example of how things should be done. But why is this relevant? It’s important because through his inner purity and never-dying chivalry, Luke’s connection to the Force remained uncapped. The ability to reach deeper and climb level after level was always available. There was no limit to his potential and at the very root of it was his way of life.
  • Power (Strength, 100/100)- There is a reason why someone as powerful as the Emperor was so hellbent on recruiting Luke to his side. Absolutely teeming with limitless strength, Luke became a desirable target for good and bad intentions. Only one person alive had ever seen such ability, but that’s for another time…Skywalker was a man in rarefied air. Through his connection with the Force, with his unstoppable physical capabilities and his exuberant youth, Luke Skwyalker was the complete package.
  • Level of Diversity (Strength, 95/100)- Luke was so skilled that anything he did, he was the best. From using the Force to piloting, Skywalker was the very pinnacle of diversification. It’s worth noting that it took Luke a while to get adjusted to using a lightsaber. In that time that he was unsure of the weapon, he crafted his marksmanship and all-around skill with a blaster. Now I know Force-users have the upper hand when it comes to reflexes and ability in situations like these but something has to be said for someone who started using a lightsaber so late in life and who then masters the weapon of the Jedi. It takes talent to be the best at something but when you get someone who is at the top in multiple categories? Now that’s just special.
  • Art of the Lightsaber (Strength, 97/100)- As I just said, Luke was a complete artist with the Jedi weapon. The whirling and dazzling beam of the weapon quickly became second-nature to Luke as he adapted surprisingly quick and became deadly. It was through intense sessions and his laborious work ethic that he was able to truly master the weapon and turn himself into one of the top swordsmen the Galaxy has seen.
  • Soft Spot (Weakness, 61/100)- Physically, Luke is flawless. Spiritually, it took him some time to get used to the Force but he figured it out and he now allows its waves of embrace to flow over him. But now emotionally and mentally, Luke has some issues. Whether it was the loss of Ben Kenobi that caused Luke to throw caution to the wind, the obsession of trying to bring his father back to the light that nearly cost him his life or his attempts to remake a Jedi Order that went painfully wrong as his nephew went berserk and demolished all that Luke fought so hard to build. Luke no doubt has some emotional attachments that he has had repeated trouble with. In Episode VIII, I hope he’s more careful or else…

Intangibles

  • Bloodline (Strength, 100/100)- At the very heart of the most Force sensitive family, Luke Skywalker is the very essence of the Skywalker family tree. With his father being so powerful and in-tune with the Force, it’s no wonder Luke is so dynamically dominant. The way this normally works is anyone who has Skywalker DNA even if it’s the tiniest smidgen they’re strong. But to be the very heart and soul of the entire line? Well, it just doesn’t get any better!

Final Word

As I first began to pencil in characters where I believed they belonged in my idea of a Force-user power rankings structure, Luke was a no-brainer. He was placed in the top three almost immediately. Although I wasn’t sure however if he should be the top man or the number three guy. After giving it some thought, I realized that Luke is who people think of when someone says “Star Wars”. He is the very definition of a hero, the light that shines the brightest and the one who makes everything fit together. He is one of the most strongest and potent Force-users ever as well as the one who has the most defined and meaningful legacies. When I look at Luke, the characteristic that impresses me the most is his ability to handle pressure. He seems to never be rattled and always be under wraps with what he wants to do with himself. His discipline is so unique for someone who has as much ability as he does. In the end, Luke Skywalker’s work ethic and beliefs of justice as well as his family’s genes granted him a deep connection within the Force which allowed him to possess untapped power. He is undoubtedly one of the greats, that’s why he is the number two Force-user on my power rankings.

Official Sith Pacify Power Rankings: #7

The 7th character for the Official Sith Pacify Power Rankings is…Darth Vader!

Darth Vader Overall = 96

Possibly the most recognizable character of all time in movies, Darth Vader is as menacing as he is evil.

Encased in his metallic black suit, a storm forever rages on.

Brought into this world through betrayal, hatred and greed, Darth Vader is a being hellbent on death and destruction.

Though his abilities as Anakin Skywalker were severely limited after his transformation, the man was so talented and powerful that he completely remade his entire combat style

To understand the full power of Vader’s, you first must realize what he has become.

For starters, only one of his four limbs are flesh, his entire body is brutally devastated via burns and his mind has been chewed up and spit out.

With that being said, how is he the 7th most powerful Force-user in all of Star Wars!?

To answer this you must recognize the mental acuity that is within Darth Vader.

Next and maybe the quintessential piece, Anakin Skywalker was the Force.

Although Vader’s physical prowess has been permanently damaged, his control of the Force remains vigorously intense.

Lastly, throughout everything that is Star Wars no individual has ever been more driven, more resolute in his actions and more revenge-driven than Lord Vader.

So what’s the final outcome?

Let’s take a look.

Characteristics

  • Mindset (Strength, 96/100)- The Dark Lord of the Sith’s discipline is so legendary that annihilates any task he ever puts his mind to. The Force is a stale frigid wind that submerses itself within his very soul. Possibly only contained within his suit, Darth Vader will accomplish any goal he desires, any action he feels necessary and any point he seeks to prove. Some people say they have a chip on their shoulder well when it comes to Vader? Yea he has an entire mountain on his…
  • Skill Set (Strength, 97/100)- As Anakin, he was blessed with the best of the best abilities, reflexes and attributes. After losing practically his entire body, his emotional state of mind and his style of warfare no longer possible, Vader had no choice but to change things up. A testament to his will and sheer power, the Sith Lord completely evolved his game into a totally different style. One that included power instead of maneuverability, patience instead of spontaneity and tenacious hate instead of fluidity. The conquering of change is already impressive but the pure dominance that Vader achieved even after his near entanglement with death is nothing short of miraculous. Darth Vader is one hell of a badass.
  • Command of the Force (Strength, 97/100)- As time went on, Darth Vader came to the understanding that he was no longer able to move freely or capable of such fantastic physical feats that only Anakin Skywalker could claim. This absence within him drove him to delve deeper into his pursuit of the Dark Side. When he finally came up to take a breath of air, he was a masterful wielder of it all. Really, he was able to command the Dark Side so skillfully that he made it into that of an art. His go-to move in the Force choke became so synonymous with himself that individuals would begin clawing at their own throats even before he put up a finger! Fear, the very stench of it gave Vader exhilarating happiness.
  • Commander in Chief (Strength, 96/100)- Virtually in charge of the entire Galaxy, Darth Vader was the face of order in the Empire. It is true that the Emperor Palpatine was the head honcho but as the enforcer, Vader abused the title to no end. What adds to his already astonishing prowess, Darth Vader was in total command of the entire Imperial fleet. Not only could he destroy an entire enemy force himself, but he controlled the latest state of the art weaponry that was the mighty Empire. A masterful leader on the battlefield, Lord Vader was elite in the business of direction and giving out orders to ensure victory.
  • Art of the Lightsaber (Strength, 98/100)- When Darth Vader ignited that flaming red beam of death, pain and mutilation were only moments away. As a person who cared not for anything but himself, Vader would absolutely butcher all that got in his way. Whether that means a child or a pregnant woman, it mattered little to the man in the black. But the way he handled a lightsaber is truly unique. Many have been as dynamic as him but the way he was able to skillfully move his blade is what sets him apart. The Jedi teach that the lightsaber is just an extension of oneself. Well as a Sith Lord, Darth Vader fully bought into that idea which blended hate with discipline and thus made him that much more of an efficient killing machine.
  • Limitations of the Suit (Weakness, 20/100)- Up to this point, this characteristic is the most vitally weak attribute to any character. But is it justified? You bet it is. It’s extremely ironic that one who regards himself as an invincible force of nature is actually as vulnerable and fragile as a young child. It’s as simple as this: Darth Vader’s breathing apparatus is his life. His lungs are shriveled and charred. They no longer have the ability on their own to carry the vital oxygen themselves. If his suit is damaged in any way, the situation would turn extremely dire.

Intangibles

  • Top Gun (Strength, 95/100)- Not only can Vader fight, command troops and instill fear, but he’s also the very best fighter pilot…ever! No one is as dynamic in a cockpit as Vader is, no one. Like Anakin Skywalker before him, Darth Vader was fully able to submerse himself into the Force and allow his instincts to fully take over. Why is it so difficult to shoot him down? He’s so familiar with space and his knowledge of warfare is so precise that he can calculate the attempts of his adversaries before they even know what to do! It’s true. The Force is without a doubt his number one ally, but his understanding of battle scenarios is so intricate that he knows what’s coming. All in all, he’s deadly on the ground and lethal in the air.

Final Word

Why is Vader so important? What is his legacy? To put it as simply as I can, Darth Vader is Star Wars. The first time he appears in the movies, he has an aura of ghoulish malevolence.

Official Sith Pacify Power Rankings: #10

The 10th character for the Official Sith Pacify Power Rankings is…Darth Malgus!

Darth Malgus Overall = 95

Some villains are bad and some villains are evil.

Darth Malgus was one devilish man.

He was about as fierce and fiery of an individual as we’ve ever seen.

Standing at a whopping 7’2, Malgus was the absolute epitome of intimidating.

Known for his unrelenting thirst for power and greatness, Darth Malgus had all the makings of a legendary Force-user.

Besides the fact that he was an elite offensive fighter, he also is extraordinary in other ways as well.

Darth Malgus has perhaps the highest pain tolerance of almost any being on the Sith Pacify Power Rankings.

In a surprise attack on Alderaan, Malgus was grievously injured on multiple occasions.

At two different moments, the Sith Lord’s face was permanently scarred due to rockets and grenades that were unleashed upon him by Republic Special Forces.

But it wasn’t until he came face-to-face with his nemesis Satele Shan that he bore the brunt of his injuries.

Shan’s final attack that defeated Malgus seared the skin around his mouth and jaw bone as well as causing deep divots along the sides of his face.

The extent of his injuries ended up severely damaging his lungs as Malgus would have to wear a breathing apparatus for the rest of his life.

Malgus would ultimately get his revenge though as he would take down the Republic capital on Coruscant.

So how powerful is he?

Let’s find out.

Characteristics

  • Pain Threshold (Strength, 98/100)- Can you imagine your face being subjected to not one but two cataclysmic explosions at point-blank range? And on top of that, being injured so badly that your lungs could no longer operate on their own!? Well that’s exactly what happened to Darth Malgus. But the kicker? He didn’t feel a thing. That’s right, the Sith Lord was so preoccupied with the emotional pain of defeat that he felt no pain in regard to his physical injuries. Talk about a monster!
  • Power (Strength, 95/100)- Everything Darth Malgus did was intertwined with Dark Side power. From his stare to his slashes with a lightsaber, Malgus was filled with crackling pure electric energy. His strength was what set him apart from other Force-users. From a physical standpoint, you could make a legitimate argument that Darth Malgus was the strongest of all time.
  • Will (Strength, 94/100)- Malgus’ dedication in seeing things through combined with his mental intensity created a recipe for annihilation. Arguably his best characteristic, Malgus’ strong personality blocked him from pain, fear and other emotions that would have ordinarily held him back. His willpower was so intense that Malgus often carried through with his own ambitions even if they conflicted with direct orders.
  • Physicality (Strength, 95/100)- By now it’s easy to tell what kind of a warrior Malgus is. He’s a pure beast that would rather beat his enemy to a bloody pulp with anything available to him instead of taking prisoners. What makes him so powerful is his extremely overwhelming ability to crush anyone in his way. Malgus famously murdered his rival, Lord Adraas by choking the man. Only thing is, normally that would mean through the Force. Well, Malgus hated Adraas so deeply that he actually choked him with his bare hands…
  • Military Tactician (Strength, 97/100)-Malgus was absolutely imposing in a battle but he was also a military genius. From retaking Korriban to the sacking of Coruscant. There’s a reason why his superiors continuously tabbed Malgus as the leader in these high stakes campaigns! His provato on the battlefield provided his compatriots with all the incentive and drive they needed to be victorious.
  • Love (Weakness, 57/100)- Darth Malgus had a dark secret. For quite a long time, he actually had a lover in a Twi’lek slave girl named Eleena Daru whom he fought side by side with in multiple battles. Although he tried to keep his relationship with the girl secret, his rival Lord Adraas would eventually discover his bond with her and try to take advantage. In the end, Malgus kills Daru in an attempt to cut loose ends and to prevent anything from holding him back.

Intangibles

  • Steely-Eyed Stare (Strength, 92/100)- It is said that no one could ever hold Darth Malgus’ stare for a long period of time. The sheer power of this guy seemingly emanated through his glare as if they were incendiary lasers. Through his awesome power of the Dark Side, Malgus was able to create such an intimidating reputation that was accentuated that much more just by his eyes alone!

Final Word

Few are like Darth Malgus. In a time where the Sith Empire was playing the game of “political grandstanding” to add more to its already massive amount of territory, Malgus would have none of it. In despising politics, the Dark Lord was a true Sith warrior. He preferred to kill, he loved to kill. Heck, when he was just a young boy he killed a Twi’lek servant on his father’s estate for no apparent reason! The man was a human wrecking ball that craved blood. The ferocity in his actions were so prevalent that he made a name for himself wherever he went. The merciless and punishing nature of Darth Malgus is why he is a top 10 Force-user.

Official Sith Pacify Power Rankings: #14

The 14th character for the Official Sith Pacify Power Rankings is…Darth Maul!

Darth Maul Overall = 92

The Dathomirian Zabrak with the red and black tattooed skin and the crown of horns is as menacing as he is imposing.

Darth Maul was the original Apprentice of the Sith Lord Darth Sidious.

It was Sidious himself who had Maul trained and bred for the sole purpose of becoming a savage, killing machine.

Although Maul was eventually bestowed a Sith Lord by his Master, it wasn’t until he passed many severe and intensely cruel trials.

These missions were as rigorous as the human mind could think of.

Darth Maul consistently proved himself to be as dedicated to his craft as anyone could ever be.

But this legend is not without tragedy as his enormous potential is dashed as he is cut down by the young Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Of course a figure emanating as much willpower as Maul would not be denied.

Darth Maul is able to almost fully return to the height of his abilities during The Clone Wars.

Unfortunately for him, it is Darth Sidious this time who ruins the day for Maul as defeats Maul in a duel and proceeds to administer torturous amounts of Force lightning to Maul himself .

Strangely however, the story does not end there.

Although we are not sure in what capacity, Darth Maul should make an appearance on Star Wars Rebels tomorrow night.

Characteristics

  • Repertoire of an Assassin (Strength, 97/100)- Not only was Darth Maul trained in the arts of the Dark Side of the Force, but he was an assassin as well. But he wasn’t just a regular ordinary assassin, he was the best. Maul’s skills of tracking his targets, his abilities to integrate the use of the Force and his second to none skill with a lightsaber formed a dynamic combo. No one could ever outrun Maul, physically and figuratively. If you were his target, you were as good as dead. But what makes Darth Maul insanely good at being a Sith Lord assassin was the fact that he was a smart guy! His mind was always moving, always calculating and tracking. He was certainly a Force to be reckoned with.
  • Art of the Saber Staff (Strength, 94/100)- Although he was about as unorthodox as one could be, Darth Maul’s prowess with a lightsaber was superior. He gravitated towards the saber staff because he thought it would better accentuate his already distinct skills and boy was he right. Along with his acrobatic style and his assassin-like reflexes, the long reach of the saber staff was the perfect complement to the deadly machine that was Darth Maul. His skill with a lightsaber was truly unopposed as he wiped out Qui-Gon Jinn who was known to be a fantastic swordsman as well as holding his own against Darth Sidious.
  •  Survivor (Strength, 93/100)- When it came to physical capabilities, Darth Maul very well could be at the top of the list. There was never any BMI (body mass index) stat on Maul but if there was, I’d imagine it’d be somewhere around 1%! The proficiency Maul had with his body was absolutely astronomical. Throughout his many varying missions, he was tasked with the challenges of not using the Force as the Galaxy could not know he was Force sensitive yet with his exceptional skills as an assassin, that mattered very little. He was very much able to jump dozens of feet in the air and flip and contort his body in unimaginable ways. He was a true warrior.
  • Pain Tolerance (Strength, 92/100)- Granted to them through the Force, many Jedi and Sith alike are capable of mind-boggling capabilities to endure pain. But with Darth Maul, his pain tolerance was transcendent. Did he feel pain? Sure. But what he was able to do with it is truly remarkable. Maul had the gift of accessing all pain he physically, emotionally and mentally received and was able to convert that into a form of pulsing with hate energy that fueled his diamond strong muscles. Whether it was broken bones, being severed or losing limbs, none of this fazed him. Maul was truly in a class of his own when it came to tolerating the very pain that would send regular ordinary individuals running to their mother’s.
  • Loyalty (Strength, 88/100)- A great testament to Darth Maul’s character was his admirably profound loyalty to his Master. Maul might as well of had the word “loyalty” tattooed within his already covered body as the word and him were one. As he was raised by Sidious, Maul quickly learned the power of respect and admiration as he looked up to the Sith Lord. Although he’d be faced with many challenges in his future that caused him to endure trust issues, his dedication never waned. As he grew older and became isolated to Sidious and any “Master” figures in general, he learned to change the focus for his loyalty which became his goals and desires.
  • Arrogance (Weakness, 50/100)- Although Darth Maul had a lot to be proud of and to admire in himself, his level of egotism became too much for him to bare. Of course it ended up costing him dearly in his bout with Kenobi as he became too consumed by his desire to annihilate the Jedi. Maul is a legend, make no mistake about it. But his number one glaring weakness in his lack of humility cost him so very dearly.
  • Knowledge of the Force(Weakness, 65/100)- At the time of Darth Maul’s childhood, Darth Sidious himself was an Apprentice. Although the dynamics within that relationship were drastically different than he and Maul’s, Sidious was forced to sacrifice. Although some of it was indeed his Master’s doing, Darth Maul’s abilities within the Force were very thin. Because Darth Sidious initially trained the Dathomirian Zabrak to be his personal assassin, Maul’s arsenal of abilities within the Force were of far and few in between. His assortment of powers nearly consisted of Force pushes, Force chokes and tracking and assassin-related moves. Although Maul  mostly taught himself the latter, he was also proficient in the ability to block out pain. Still, someone as strong as Maul suffered greatly with the lack of Force powers.

Intangibles

  • Don’t Count Him Out (Strength, 94/100)- One of the best compliments you could give a guy like Darth Maul is he is a survivor. His sheer will to go on and not to be defeated is mythical. He’s survived being cut in half, he’s endured the shattering of his mind and he’s surpassed the torture of his former Master (so we think). Darth Maul doesn’t know the word “lose” and you’d be hard pressed to find another guy who could teach it to him and survive.

Final Word

Darth Maul’s story is a sad poignant tale. He had it all. He had youth and skill, he had the most desired position in the Galaxy as the Apprentice of the future leader of the Galaxy and he was as dominant as anyone. Unfortunately, Darth Maul’s overestimation of Obi-Wan Kenobi made him lose out on every single thing. Even when he reclaimed his sanity and skill, he still was never able to earn his spot at Sidious’ side. Darth Maul can best be described as a red and black voracious cyclone that screams death and consumes its prey through pure mutilation. Still, Maul doesn’t get enough credit for his intelligence and even his honor. Darth Maul respected those who could hold their own in battle. He enjoyed dueling against opponents worthy of his time. Regardless, Darth Maul’s legacy isn’t yet over, we’ll just have to wait and see how the chapter closes on our favorite demonic Sith Lord.

Official Sith Pacify Power Rankings: 19

The 19th character for the Official Sith Pacify Power Rankings is…Asajj Ventress!

Asajj Ventress Overall = 90

Asajj Ventress had many various experiences throughout her embattled life.

The Dathomirian female was a slave, a Jedi Padawan, a Sith Apprentice, a Nightsister and a bounty hunter.

But her time serving under Count Dooku was her most potent and memorable of years.

Up to this point, we have not had a Sith represented on the Sith Pacify Power Rankings.

With that being said, this should be fun.

Characteristics

  • Swordsmanship (Strength, 94/100)– The lightsabers utilized by Asajj Ventress once belonged to the Bando Gora leader and former Jedi, Komari Vosa. With that being said, it’s the wielder of the sword that wreaks havoc, not the other way around. Particularly skilled in lightsaber combat, Ventress was efficient, deadly and terrifying with the weapon. She routinely overpowered Jedi even coming close to defeating Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Kit Fisto and others.
  • Survival (Strength, 90/100)– Not only was Ventress a proficient Force-user, but she also had skills to overcome diversity. In other words, she was more than capable to live off the land and to prosper with little or no supplies. She assumed the role of a bounty hunter later on in life and was exceptionally successful. In a bout with Ventress, one must expect the unexpected.
  • Determinative Will (Strength, 90/100)– With respect to her lightsaber prowess and her Force abilities, possibly Asajj Ventress’ strongest characteristic was her will to prove herself as a intergalactic force. Hellbent on proving her worth, Ventress never looked back after the repeated trials and tribulations she endured over the course of her complicated life.
  • The Force (Strength, 88/100)Although not extremely gifted with the Force, Ventress was more than capable in dishing out the pain against her adversaries. She consistently showed the ability to engage high ranking Jedi Masters in battle and use the Force to aid her conquest against them. Another factor in why she’s able to make the most with the level of the Force given to her is the fact that she was trained as a Jedi and as a Sith Apprentice throughout her life.
  • Shortage of Friends  (Weakness, 75/100)Although Ventress is a powerful singular combatant, she can be overwhelmed against multiple enemies. Because of her conflicting past, Ventress has lost out on creating life-long bonds. This detriment of character has cost her in combat and would ironically make her pay the ultimate price.
  • Lack of Trust (Weakness, 70/100)- Ventress was ousted from her position as Count Dooku’s apprentice when Darth Sidious pulled a power move and demanded Dooku kill her. Although this is only one example, Ventress endured tremendous situations of painful betrayal causing emotional defeat. It’s no wonder she was so angry!

Intangibles

  • Rage  (Strength, 93/100)- As a dynamic fighter, Ventress was able to push the limits of her skill that much more thanks to her emotions. Her anger towards living beings drove her to heights that amplified her abilities. Rarely being out of control, her anger propelled her to defeat competitors on the regular.
  • Pain  (Weakness, 68/100)- It’s no secret that Ventress had a tough life. She was taken from her homeworld as a child, forced into slavery, became a Jedi only to have her Master killed in combat and so on and so forth. Also, as I said before, Count Dooku also crushed Ventress’ heart and soul as he too disowned her. All these defeats and bouts with rejection undoubtedly caused Ventress real pain which I would have no doubt in believing that they ultimately attributed to her death.

Final Word

Asajj Ventress was a flaming shot of pure energy that wanted to take down everything in its path. Resolute in her actions and devastatingly effective, Ventress kicked ass and was victorious throughout her life even with being up against the odds. I think it’s safe to say that she lived her life in depression and had trouble with mental fatigue due to her intense sadness forced upon her in her past. Still, she is a powerful foe that many fell to. Ironically, Ventress was finally defeated in the name of love as she scarified herself to protect her lover Quinlan Vos against her former Master Count Dooku’s Force lightning. The legend of Asajj Ventress continues to live on as we are forced to ponder her spot amongst the Galaxy’s greats.

Can You Feel The Hate?

The following is an excerpt from Emperor Palpatine’s personal journal. The entry was entered approximately three months after the overthrowing of the Jedi and the proclamation of the Galactic Empire….

The darkness surrounds me.

I am the darkness.

As I sit here on my throne on the capital of capitals, my mind drifts.

Coruscant is banished, that word no longer exists. To utter that very word is a punishable offense.

Imperial Center is the gem of the Galaxy. It has a fitting ring to it doesn’t it?

Long ago the great Sith Emperor Lord Vitiate renamed his homeworld to Nathema so why can’t I rename the center of the universe?

After all, it is mine isn’t it?

I did eliminate and butcher all those who opposed me right?

All those who rose up and attempted to quell my unquenchable thirst for power met the ax…or soon will.

You see, I am a force that handles power with grace. One who values extreme loyalty more than words can ever describe.

Ah yes, the dark shadows that constantly surround me are effervescent.

Emperor_RotJ

A normal being would succumb to its heinous malevolence but there is nothing normal about me.

I am Darth Sidious, Dark Lord of the Sith.

I am the Sith…

From when I was a little boy on my native planet of Naboo to when I was an aspiring politician traveling the mid-rim, I knew what I was.

Malicious intent was always my forte.

The guise of an elderly and kind man who’s trust was given to by every being in the Galaxy oh how foolish you all were.

You see, it was my plan the entire time to conspire against everyone and anyone.

To inevitably distort every reality as you all knew it.

Even mine.

I would forfeit my secure and lofty seat above the vaunted Republic for something more.

Gamble my good fortune and well being for something more extravagant.

I was already a mere mortal controlling the current situations of man but now I am a God controlling the very existence and destiny of man.

Do you see what I have become?

Do you understand the power that I command?

No, you never will.

It is a gift of vision, a gift that only I exude.

It is my weapon that is sprayed mercilessly throughout my Galaxy.

Death and hate.

Despair and misery.

Anguish and dejection.

There is no hope.

Everything and anything is mine.

Even you.

You are mine.

It is pointless to struggle.

What is done is done.

You all serve me now.

Unlike before where I gained your trust, I will ultimately take your very souls.

The darkness surrounds me and soon it shall surround you too.

We NEED More Darth Maul!

When you think of awesome Star Wars characters, Darth Maul is one of the first that comes to mind.

He is by far the most unique, animal-like beings throughout the entire saga.

Whether it’s his snarl that best resembles a predator ready to leap or his voracious heaves of his lightsaber, Darth Maul is a literal beast.

Maul_snarl.jpg

So if you’re reading this you’re probably saying “Of course he is, we all know that. What’s your point?”

Well my point is this: Why is a character that is so spectacularly awesome barely in Star Wars????

The man is a revenge seeking missile hellbent on vindicating his name and glory as he believes himself to be the chosen one.

He is a civilized entity that breathes fire and spits lightning.

Darth Maul, Lord of the Sith is about as terrifying and merciless as anyone in Star Wars history.

The following clip sums up the guy’s prowess perfectly. Check it out.

Now that’s some powerful stuff…

You have to be pretty cold-hearted to walk in Darth Maul’s shoes.

But you know all of this.

So where am I trying to go with this?

The point is, Darth Maul is returning.

star-wars-rebels-old-master-600x319

The Dathomirian devil will return to Star Wars Rebels at some point in Season 2.

With another episode tomorrow night, the excitement of the possibility of seeing the legendary Sith/assassin back in action is at an all time high.

It will be fascinating to see what this prolific character’s role will be as there are a million ways to go.

Will he be a secret agent working directly under Darth Sidious with the sole intent of bringing Ezra Bridger to face the Emperor?

Will he be a lone wolf dedicated to the shadows as much as the Dark Side?

Or will he be a scarred and battered soul that is working against his former Master?

With so many possibilities it makes you wonder. What the heck took so long!?

Darth Maul is a character that has so much to offer everyone.

He provides a shiny new plot to any story, he excites Star Wars fans of any age with his unorthodox style and he is undeniably a force to be reckoned with.

I think it’s a darn shame that it took this long for Maul to be reintroduced to the mainstream audiences of Star Wars.

By mainstream I simply mean television or movies rather than books or comics.

Now, yes he was in The Clone Wars but only in a handful of episodes out of well over a hundred and you know what? That doesn’t do this great character justice.

darthdarksaber8_zps4e85e265.jpg

I firmly believe that Darth Maul deserves his own independent film and hey, maybe that’s the direction Disney is going here.

If that is the case then well, Disney? THE WORLD THANKS YOU!

But in all seriousness, there should be about half a dozen video games dedicated to this guy, he should have his own show that mainly focuses on Maul’s acts of the Dark and like I said, even his own movie.

Just think about it…

There’s no one like him! Darth Maul is arguably the most physically gifted character, one of the most talented lightsaber wielders and his skills as an assassin just add to his legendary status of elite!

The man survived being cut in half and a never ending fall for goodness’ sake!

Not even the powerful Mace Windu was able to survive similar a defeat…or so we think…

Anyways, I just think Darth Maul deserves so much more credit than what he’s gotten in terms of recognition.

I think he needs to be in more of the spotlight and honestly, I expect that to be the case in the future.
