What To Expect In The New Rogue One Trailer

With the Star Wars Celebration taking place in London this week, we will get another look at Rogue One.

This Friday on ABC a one hour special titled  “Secrets of the Force Awakens” will air and at some point in that broadcast we will get a look at the next Rogue One trailer.

But what will we see?

Besides the storyline of Resistance efforts to steal the Empire’s plans for the Death Star, there’s very little known on what exactly we can expect.

The first trailer gave us some epic shots of awesomeness and some new characters, but besides that we’re still very much in the dark.

Before I continue I want to first say that Disney is the absolute best at keeping movie details under wraps until the films are released.

For instance, with The Force Awakens we all had no clue what was going to happen.

I would expect the same with RO.

Before you start to think of what will be seen in the next trailer, it’s important to see the parallels with TFA.

The second TFA trailer was released last in April 2015 during the Star Wars celebration in California.

As you can see, the trailer had almost nothing of substance.

Normally I would suggest the same thing will occur with RO’s next trailer but you know what? I don’t think that’s the case.

With the TFA, things were different. We all knew the six Star Wars movies like the back of our hands.

We were searching and craving for any little snippet of picture time that showcased our favorite characters and vigorously searched far and wide for any plot twists.

That’s exactly why the trailers for the movie were so vanilla. They were released knowing that the public would eat up anything Star Wars related.

But as I said earlier with RO, there’s very little known information on what is to come.

That brings me to my next point. Because there’s a real lack of knowledge, I fully expect to see something mind blowing, something that we will be talking about for months to come.

What could that exactly be?Maybe more screen time for the man in the white cape?  What about a demonstration of sheer might from the Empire? Or maybe an appearance of Darth Vader!?

All of these possibilities would be pretty epic but the last one is what I’m hoping for.

But on the realistic side of things I’m not sure exactly if that would really happen.

Would it make sense for RO to show their biggest and most popular character in only the second trailer?

Honestly I’m not sure.

With TFA, probably the biggest takeaway was the deformed helmet of Darth Vader and the hearing of Luke’s voice.

Looking back that was pretty major considering Kylo Ren is Luke’s nephew and the second trailer clearly foreshadowed that pretty big nugget with Luke’s line of “The Force is strong in my family.”

It’s almost a sure bet we will see something similar in this trailer with RO considering that Disney is very high on symmetry.

But think about it. What else do you want to see in RO that has not been mentioned before.

I know what I would want and that’s an appearance of the Emperor.

u66UMpO7.jpg

It would definitely make sense. With the amount of resources the Empire sunk into the Death Star and the amount of importance it holds for them, you would expect the top man to be around right?

I do believe Palpatine will be in RO but my one concern is I’m not sure if he will be in the second trailer or even the third.

It might be showing your cards too early and when it comes to Star Wars, rookie mistakes like that are never made.

You ever see a trailer for a movie like a Marvel Comics superhero flick where it feels like it’s 35 minutes long and by the time it’s over you’re almost under the impression that you just saw all the good parts??

Yea well Star Wars doesn’t have that ridiculousness…

Star Wars decision makers do it right and something they are absolutely famous for is not revealing anything too important.

I do believe RO is a different animal because it is so new but I wouldn’t be that surprised if we do see something pretty spectacular in the trailer since I’m sure they’re wanting to build up the buzz.

In the end, what will we see?

Main characters of other previous films? Possibly.

Parts of intense fighting scenes? Probably.

Could their be some hints leading to something major? I fully expect it.

All I know is I’m excited for Friday.

RO will be fantastic and I just can’t wait to learn more.

Official Sith Pacify Power Rankings: #2

The 2nd character for the Official Sith Pacify Power Rankings is…Luke Skywalker!

Luke Skywalker Overall = 99

Unbeknownst to the world, a human on the deserted landscapes of the Tatooine wastelands grew a boy who would change the Galaxy forever.

From farmhand to the most powerful person alive, the legend of Luke Skywalker is as illustrious as it is unlikely.

Originally thought to be a nobody, young Luke took a leap of faith and soon discovered his true identity. He was a Jedi like his father before him.

The sheer talent that surged through Skywalker’s veins was just begging to be released, yearning for an opportunity.

At the Battle of Yavin, he received that chance…

As a young and inexperienced pilot, he faced off against the Death Star with so much on the line.

The result of failure meant the vaunted Rebellion, the very force that he looked up to so dearly would be completely exterminated.

It was kill or be killed and he was up against the biggest mechanical monstrosity that eyes had ever seen.

A gargantuan task  for anyone, the young boy obliterated the battle station and saved the day.

In doing so he took that next step. A step into the shadow of his father’s brilliance. A place he would have never known existed unless his very own father had not told him himself.

As the years followed, he continuously notched more and more unfathomable victories underneath his belt.

Establishing himself as an elite military general, completing his training as a Jedi and then eventually defeating the egomaniacal tyrant of the land in the Emperor.

Throughout his time in the spotlight, one thing Luke continued to resemble was a pillar of the finest light.

Definitively turning away from the beckoning calls of the Dark Side, silencing the infamous Emperor’s attempts to convert the Jedi to a Sith, he remained true to himself and true to everything he stood for.

Skywalker represented everything that was right about existence. A symbol of untouchable purity that could never be tainted.

To his very core, Luke Skywalker was a Jedi, he was one of the good guys, he was the very meaning of hope.

In a time of eternal darkness, Luke was a rallying call.

As the oppressive regime of the Empire continued to mangle the innocence, Luke became someone for people to believe in.

He became someone who people could follow into the depths of hell and as long as they stayed close to his side, avoid the scorching of devilish fire and brimstone.

The best of the very best are like magnets, they attract those around them.

Luke wasn’t just a magnet, he was the very essence that made the magnet, he was the truth.

Characteristics

  • Pure of Heart (Strength, 100/100)- Throughout Star Wars, you would be hard-pressed to find anyone at all who had better character than Luke. Always trying to do the right thing, never cutting corners and always following things through, Luke was a living and breathing example of how things should be done. But why is this relevant? It’s important because through his inner purity and never-dying chivalry, Luke’s connection to the Force remained uncapped. The ability to reach deeper and climb level after level was always available. There was no limit to his potential and at the very root of it was his way of life.
  • Power (Strength, 100/100)- There is a reason why someone as powerful as the Emperor was so hellbent on recruiting Luke to his side. Absolutely teeming with limitless strength, Luke became a desirable target for good and bad intentions. Only one person alive had ever seen such ability, but that’s for another time…Skywalker was a man in rarefied air. Through his connection with the Force, with his unstoppable physical capabilities and his exuberant youth, Luke Skwyalker was the complete package.
  • Level of Diversity (Strength, 95/100)- Luke was so skilled that anything he did, he was the best. From using the Force to piloting, Skywalker was the very pinnacle of diversification. It’s worth noting that it took Luke a while to get adjusted to using a lightsaber. In that time that he was unsure of the weapon, he crafted his marksmanship and all-around skill with a blaster. Now I know Force-users have the upper hand when it comes to reflexes and ability in situations like these but something has to be said for someone who started using a lightsaber so late in life and who then masters the weapon of the Jedi. It takes talent to be the best at something but when you get someone who is at the top in multiple categories? Now that’s just special.
  • Art of the Lightsaber (Strength, 97/100)- As I just said, Luke was a complete artist with the Jedi weapon. The whirling and dazzling beam of the weapon quickly became second-nature to Luke as he adapted surprisingly quick and became deadly. It was through intense sessions and his laborious work ethic that he was able to truly master the weapon and turn himself into one of the top swordsmen the Galaxy has seen.
  • Soft Spot (Weakness, 61/100)- Physically, Luke is flawless. Spiritually, it took him some time to get used to the Force but he figured it out and he now allows its waves of embrace to flow over him. But now emotionally and mentally, Luke has some issues. Whether it was the loss of Ben Kenobi that caused Luke to throw caution to the wind, the obsession of trying to bring his father back to the light that nearly cost him his life or his attempts to remake a Jedi Order that went painfully wrong as his nephew went berserk and demolished all that Luke fought so hard to build. Luke no doubt has some emotional attachments that he has had repeated trouble with. In Episode VIII, I hope he’s more careful or else…

Intangibles

  • Bloodline (Strength, 100/100)- At the very heart of the most Force sensitive family, Luke Skywalker is the very essence of the Skywalker family tree. With his father being so powerful and in-tune with the Force, it’s no wonder Luke is so dynamically dominant. The way this normally works is anyone who has Skywalker DNA even if it’s the tiniest smidgen they’re strong. But to be the very heart and soul of the entire line? Well, it just doesn’t get any better!

Final Word

As I first began to pencil in characters where I believed they belonged in my idea of a Force-user power rankings structure, Luke was a no-brainer. He was placed in the top three almost immediately. Although I wasn’t sure however if he should be the top man or the number three guy. After giving it some thought, I realized that Luke is who people think of when someone says “Star Wars”. He is the very definition of a hero, the light that shines the brightest and the one who makes everything fit together. He is one of the most strongest and potent Force-users ever as well as the one who has the most defined and meaningful legacies. When I look at Luke, the characteristic that impresses me the most is his ability to handle pressure. He seems to never be rattled and always be under wraps with what he wants to do with himself. His discipline is so unique for someone who has as much ability as he does. In the end, Luke Skywalker’s work ethic and beliefs of justice as well as his family’s genes granted him a deep connection within the Force which allowed him to possess untapped power. He is undoubtedly one of the greats, that’s why he is the number two Force-user on my power rankings.

Official Sith Pacify Power Rankings: #5

The 5th character for the Official Sith Pacify Power Rankings is…Revan!

Revan Overall = 97

The epitome of the Old Republic, Revan was a legend of his time.

As some characters are straight forward and easy to grasp, Revan is the complete opposite.

Known as one of the most gifted Force-users ever, Revan played both sides throughout his life.

Revan was dynamic wielding a lightsaber but his lethal understanding and vast knowledge of the Force provided him with enough firepower to eliminate anyone.

As the story goes, he fell to the Dark Side after being influenced by the Sith Emperor and then eventually redeemed himself only to be recaptured by the Sith and experience a schism of the mind leading to Darth Revan.

Not only was he one of the best on the battlefield but his legacy could be felt through generations.

The Jedi Master Satele Shan is a descendant of Revan himself.

In fact, some have wondered if Rey might have a possible connection to the storied Revan as well!

But who is Revan exactly? There’s much unknown about the character like what’s his real name for instance?

Oddly enough, no one knows his real name.

No matter what, one thing is for sure. The cloud of mystery surrounding one of the most prolific characters in Star Wars history only adds to his fabled reputation.

Characteristics

  • Force Unleashed (Strength, 99/100)- When it comes to strength and potency in the Force, Revan is arguably the best. At the strongest point in his life, he was able to channel both the light and dark and use his own soul as a conductor. One of his more grotesque skills was the ability to mangle his enemy as he would literally crush his opponents organs. What’s interesting about Revan however is his lack of freestyle. What I mean by this is his powers were relatively simple! Revan had the talent to do literally anything he wanted but he was a practical man and referred to results rather than eccentric displays of his power, something Malak would have preferred. He was very keen on enhancing his physical limitations as he used the Force to augment his reflexes, strength, speed etc. Unfortunately, having the capability of simultaneously utilizing the Dark Side with the Light will have severely crippling consequences…I’ll touch on that in a little bit.
  • Power Among Friends (Strength, 95/100)- Throughout Revan’s life, one thing he most certainly had was power. He always generated a massive following whether that was while he was on the side of the Jedi or within the darkness as a Sith. Many constantly gravitated to him because he gave off an aura of sheer strength of cataclysmic proportions. What’s more, he made people believers through his example. Cutting down, mutilating and just plain defeating his adversaries, with the Force as his ally Revan was the hammer to the Galaxy’s nail.
  • Rebellion Leader (Strength, 94/100)- As the Jedi Order continued to sit out the ongoing Mandalorian Wars, it was Revan who took a stand. Leading what was known as the Revanchist movement, the Jedi forces spearheaded the war effort. Through these actions the legend was born as their leader officially took on the name Revan. As he and the squadron of fighters he controlled joined up with the Republic military, he was chosen as the Supreme Commander. Within the fighting the Jedi Knight discovered a mask of a Mandalorian that was killed in action. This mask would go on to be forever synonymous with triumph and pain as he would continue to wear it even with the Sith.
  • Military Prowess (Strength, 97/100)- Throughout these power rankings I’ve made a point to mention all the great military leaders that had a strong effect on the battlefield. When it comes to Revan, he was at the top. Revan was the Supreme Commander during the Mandalorian Wars. His knowledge of warfare and Jedi experience molded his mind into the ultimate chess player when it came down to decisions. He was a statistical genius as he continuously crunched numbers in his head in attempts to sort through various strategies. As the Wars raged on, he grew more and more hardened as he would often try to put himself in his enemies shoes and look through their eyes to create a plan of attack. However, this ended up severely damaging Revan’s state of mind as he began to care very little of even his own men as he was willing to sacrifice everything for victory.
  • Sponge of a Mind (Weakness, 60/100)- Revan’s mind was so advanced that he was so easily influenced. Always trying to find an edge, Revan was a staunch Jedi who was so intensely dedicated to the Order. Before each battle, Revan would stare at his reflection in a mirror while wearing his mask and recited the Jedi Code repeatedly until the words seemed to blur together. So how did he fall to the Sith? After stumbling upon Dromund Kaas and shown the Dark Side by the Sith Emperor, he was in trouble. Immediately, Revan saw opportunity, he saw potential and he saw promise. Revan’s biggest flaw was his tendency to take on whatever he felt gave him the immediate advantage in that specific moment. In the end of course, he’d fully endorse the Dark Side which never would have happened had he not been so experimental with his obsession of advancment. He always wanted to push himself to the next level, this most definitely played role in his devotion to the Sith.

Intangibles

  • Hazardous Effects (Weakness,*)- When Revan was finally freed from the Sith Emperor’s clutches after hundreds of years, he tried creating a strategy to defeat the Empire. Unfortunately, he was killed before completion. This is where things get crazy…What happens when torture at the hands of the Emperor as well as embracing both spectrums of the Force finally take its toll? Schism! At Revan’s “death”, his mind splintered as half went on to become one with the Force leaving the remaining half alone. It was at this moment when Revan’s remaining conscience surrounded itself with the Dark Side. In the end immediately before his final death, Revan’s mind would form together one last time as the man was finally at peace.

Final Word

The significance of Revan is so staggering that it almost seems made up. He was a Republic soldier, a Master of the Jedi and the Sith, a disciple of pure darkness and a loved father and husband that’s bloodline would continue to dominate the Galaxy with it’s greatness. Revan’s legacy is so vast that even Darth Bane is directly influenced by him. As Bane was creating his Rule of Two philosophy, he just happened to stumble upon Revan’s Sith Holocron in which he used the teachings to develop his own thoughts towards what would be the Sith’s ultimate guideline. You see, Revan was unbelievably unique. You know who he so badly reminds me of? Anakin Skywalker. It’s very interesting because it almost seems as if Revan was the “chosen one” of the Old Republic. The parallels are definitely there. Revan’s time in existence has long-lasting affects throughout the Galaxy as we’re starting to see with Vader/Anakin in the new age of Star Wars, The Force Awakens. Nonetheless, Revan is easily one of the most powerful Force-users ever. Easily.

Official Sith Pacify Power Rankings: #12

The 12th character for the Official Sith Pacify Power Rankings is…Darth Plagueis!

Darth Plagueis Overall = 93

The infamous Darth Plagueis was first revealed to the Star Wars universe in Revenge of the Sith.

It was Supreme Chancellor Palpatine who told us of the tale of the legendary Sith Lord who had the ability to prolong life.

As if that wasn’t mysteriously epic enough, in 2012 the masterfully eloquent author James Luceno wrote an entire book on Plagueis that gave us the backstory on the cryptic character.

It is through his writings that we now know what Plagueis was all about.

A member of the Muun species, his real name was Hego Damask and he was the wealthiest individual across the Galaxy.

As a member of the InterGalactic Banking Clan, Damask/Plagueis had so much influence and connections that he was able to finance many aspects of the Sith’s Grand Plan which included purchasing the order for a clone army as well as allowing his own Apprentice to have all means necessary in rising to intergalactic power.

In fact very few people knew of Darth Plagueis besides his Apprentice Darth Sidious and his late Master Darth Tenebrous.

Plagueis was a master manipulator who was a charmer, a man who willed this ideas into very existence and who was able to set forth events to his liking that would shape the Galaxy in his image.

Yet possibly the most fascinating aspect of Plagueis’ character has yet to be discussed.

You see, Darth Plagueis had a dark and twisted attraction to immortality.

This quest to find everlasting life through the Dark Side of the Force made him absolutely obsessed in his search which saw him carry out brutal and cruel observations on humans, animals and even himself.

Unfortunately for Plagueis, before he was able to concretely insure his work was successful, he was cut down and murdered in cold blood by his Apprentice.

Many make the comparison to Supreme Leader Snoke that he is in fact the Dark Lord that we all thought was long dead.

Although we will only know for sure when Episodes VIII and IX come out, until then we can only  speculate.

Characteristics

  • Master Manipulator (Strength, 98/100)- How many beings do you know that has the intelligence, the wherewithal and the resources to control the entire universe into his image!? Sounds crazy right? Well Plagueis was effectively able to do this and not only did he go through with his plans, but they all worked out too. He is at the pinnacle of mental warfare and his personality cuts as deep as a saber. To say he is a dangerous creature is to say fire is hot.
  • Dedication to the Force (Strength, 95/100)- As Plagueis grew older, he spent more and more of his time experimenting in his private lair where he modified and re-calibrated the different concentrations of midi-chlorians that prolonged life. Throughout his time working with the Force, Plagueis indeed makes great strides that allow him to momentarily delay death through his powers.
  • Wealth (Strength, 90/100)- Hego Damask commands such a major amount of wealth and influence that even without powers via the Dark Side he’s still able to get what he wants. But you see when power and strength are combined, a nasty combination is created. With everything at his disposal, Damask/Plagueis had the ability to see it happen. If he wanted to create his very own army to take over the Galaxy, he could. And you know what? That is precisely what he did.
  • Reading of Minds (Strength, 92/100)- One of Darth Plagueis’ many skills was his power to discover and understand what someone is thinking. Whether this ability was used with his experiments or during his encounters with the Jedi, Plagueis almost always had the upper hand. A testament to the Muun’s supreme brainpower, he was always in the advantageous position throughout his life thanks to the Dark Side that swelled within him.
  • Trust (Weakness, 50/100)-As hard as it is to pinpoint a weakness within one of Star Wars most prolific characters, this is one for sure. Plagueis was duped by his Apprentice in the final scene of James Luceno’s book as well as Plagueis’ life. His out-of-character behavior on the night that he and Palpatine celebrated the younger one’s appointment as Chancellor gave his Apprentice an opening to cut off his mentor. As Plagueis continued to drown in a state of inebriation, Sidious brutally tortured Plagueis to his demise with Force lightning. In a stunning turn of events, the Sith Lord that sought to prolong life itself ended up dead and out of answers.
  • Injury (Weakness, 50/100)- Around 20 years before Plagueis’ death, the Dark Lord was ambushed and gravely injured in an attack. Although Plagueis survived the ordeal, he was left with such serious wounds that for the rest of his life he would be required to utilize a breathing apparatus for everyday life let alone combat. This incident and his long-lasting wounds played a major role in his ultimate death as Sidious was able to disable his breathing device which rendered Plagueis to his doom.

Intangibles

  • Fighting Style (Strength, 89/100)- Darth Plagueis was never really noted for being a devastating warrior but he could most definitely dish out the pain. During his duel with his Master’s other Apprentice, Darth Venamis, Plagueis relied on his lightsaber skill and his mastery of the Force to emerge victorious in the bout. Another great example of Plagueis’ intense fighting abilities was during his attempted assassination. While he had no other choice but to fight, Plagueis submerged himself completely within the darkness and would literally crush the heads of his adversaries with his powerful and equally massive hands.

Final Word

If you’re someone reading this who considers themselves to know a great deal about Star Wars, you might ask yourself, “Hey wait a minute, I though Darth Plagueis was one of the strongest! How are there still 11 others ahead of him?” Well, it’s simple. The Sith Pacify Power Rankings are not just about power and influence but about everything in total. I think the story of Plagueis the Wise is one of the ultimate tragedies. He was an incredible Force-user, there’s no doubt. But in the end, his legacy disappeared when he himself died. Of course he was secretly able to implement his plans to take over the Galaxy without anyone knowing but honestly, I think his Apprentice Darth Sidious had a great deal of manipulating in that regard too. So while Plagueis was certainly powerful and a legend in his own right, his two most valuable assets were either lost as in his powers to prolong life or his legacy which was basically hijacked as well as improved by his Apprentice. In the end, keep your enemies close and your friends closer…

Official Sith Pacify Power Rankings: 17

The 17th character for the Official Sith Pacify Power Rankings is…Kylo Ren!

Kylo Ren Overall = 90

In The Force Awakens, we were introduced to new characters.

But none of them were as epically demonstrative as the awesome Kylo Ren.

Infused with sheer emotion and electric raw power, Kylo Ren is so comparable with a young Anakin who also happens to be the Grandfather of Ren’s.

The excitingly sporadic character that is Kylo Ren is out for blood, power, legacy, you name it!

With all that being said, how is this young villain so powerful and amazing?

Let’s find out.

Characteristics

  • Strong in the Force (Strength, 94/100)- When we first see Kylo Ren, there is an aura of awe surrounding him. But what truly made Star Wars fan’s jaws drop everywhere was his terrifying use of the Force. We’ve seen many Jedi and Sith block shots from a blaster before but NEVER have we seen someone stop a singeing laser blast frozen in mid-air. Or the effectiveness and effortless way Kylo taps into his victim’s minds to see what they’ve seen. Though it seems he has trouble controlling his powers at times, this diabolical bad guy has an awesome arsenal to work with.
  • Rage of the Wicked (Strength, 92/100)- Like most Sith, Kylo delves into his emotions. He believes it gives him strength. Grants him immense power. Well you know what? It sure does. Kylo Ren’s abilities seem to double or even triple when he’s submerged in his nuclear-style rage. He controls it rather well for someone so young too. It will be fascinating though to see if he ever slips up…
  • Lightsaber Superiority (Strength, 94/100)- It’s evident that Kylo Ren put in a great deal of thinking into his lightsaber. Not only is it ridiculously unique, but believe it or not, the blade is adversely useful. By protecting his hands and becoming another devious weapon. The fire-like crossguard is a fantastic variable in the already different style of swordsmanship that Kylo Ren has adopted.
  • Intimidation (Strength, 92/100)- The last Star Wars character that we’ve seen that brings out the fear in his subordinates like Ren does is Darth Vader. With the chilling mask and similar breathing apparatus, Kylo Ren and Darth Vader have a lot in common. The difference of course being that one is relatively new to the Dark Side and the other one was one of the most dark, twisted characters the Galaxy has ever seen. Kylo is certainly on his way though…
  • Inner Conflict (Weakness, 50/100)- As we saw in The Force Awakens, there seems to be a constant pull to the Light and desire to stay within the Dark. With his Grandfather eventually leaving the Dark Side to rejoin the Light before his death and his Mother and Uncle’s longstanding relationship within the Light, there’s no wonder Kylo has such temptations. Nonetheless, this will continue to be an issue whether or not Han Solo is around.
  • Toughness (Weakness, 68/100)- When Kylo Ren was battling with Finn and then Rey, he was injured. As we know, a short time before Chewbacca hit him with a bolt from his bowcaster. With someone so connected to the Force, it was odd to see this injury noticeably effecting Ren. To be clear, Kylo Ren is still young and has a lot to learn and mature as he continues to walk down the steps to the Dark. But it was definitely alarming to see his physical vulnerability.

Intangibles

  • Bloodlines (Strength, 98/100)- It’s so eerie to watch Kylo Ren in action because it is so similar to Anakin Skywalker. From their physical appearance to their insatiable hunger for achievement, it’s no wonder Kylo Ren idolizes his Grandfather. If you were to make a perfect being that is the most Force-sensitive, you would get Kylo Ren no doubt. His growth in the Force is something I very much look forward to seeing.
  • Fate (Strength/Weakness, *)- As was the case for Darth Vader, he eventually cast aside his own selfishness and care for his body and sacrificed himself for the greater good. It seems very plausible that something similar will occur with Luke. Heck even Han Solo threw caution to the wind to save his friends. The fact is, the Skywalker/Solo way is to go out a martyr, or at least a form of it. This is something young Kylo Ren should keep an eye on as it could ultimately derail any plans for everlasting power.

Final Word

When I say the sky is the limit for Kylo Ren…I actually, full-heartedly mean it. He is so similar to the chosen one that it’s almost unbearable. His powers are unbelievably deep with writhing energy that it’s only a matter of time till he is invincible, so one would think. But underneath that tough facade, there’s a troubled boy who feels let down by his family yet blessed by them as well. Stuck in problems of his own making, Kylo Ren will face fierce judgement and pressure from here on out. It only gets harder for the Grandson of Anakin Skywalker but if anyone can take it, it’s Kylo Ren.

Official Sith Pacify Power Rankings: 18

The 18th character for the Official Sith Pacify Power Rankings is…Rey!

Rey Overall = 85*

With her origins and whereabouts shrouded in mystery, Rey is an anomaly.

From the very start we knew she was extraordinary.

Her sheer will and desire to survive. For her family as she says.

That determination and courage is the stuff of heroic figures.

Although we don’t know who she really is, one thing is clear.

Rey is something special and an unknown entity within the everflowing waves of the Force.

Characteristics

  • Locked-In (Strength, 97/100)- When she is battened down and all hell is breaking loose around her, there’s no panic in Rey. Her uncanny ability to make things happen seems to never fail her. Whether she’s facing off against a crimson bladed foe or she’s under attack by physically superior goons, nothing fazes her. The more I think about it, when Rey is in that mindstate I see Luke’s clutch ability, Anakin’s superior in every way combat skill and Obi-Wan’s masterful execution. When Luke had no formal training as an X wing pilot yet he still fires off  a proton torpedo into a finite space to destroy the mechanical monstrosity of the Death Star, that is very reminiscent of Rey’s traits. Make no mistake about it, this one is special.
  • Attitude (Strength, 85/100)- Rey has an uncanny knack of surviving even in the most damning of circumstances. If you look up the definition of the word perseverance, you should see her picture. What’s most incredible about her arduous journey through the deserts of Jakku is the fact that she seems to always keep the fires of hope alive. She has the makings of a surefire legend.
  • Likability (Strength, 84/100)- Everyone likes Rey. The reason why I gave her an 84 rather than a 100 is because in terms of combat, likability doesn’t do much. But what it does do is this: when someone is on your side and really wants to do right by you, they’ll do anything. That’s how I see Rey’s companions. Think of Finn. He just met Rey yet is willing to risk everything to get her back in one piece. Now I’m sure there’s a romantic connection there but regardless, her personality makes people do extraordinary things for an extraordinary individual.
  • Experience (Weakness, 78/100)- Just like many young Jedi, her lack of experience is undeniably an issue. But why then would I give her a number as high as 78!? Well I’ll tell you. The simple fact of the matter is we don’t know who Rey is. If she is Luke’s daughter and Anakin’s granddaughter, her experience mean’s virtually nothing. Those are arguably two of the best all-around Force-users the Galaxy has ever seen. When you’re part of that family, the past history of engagement means next to nothing. But if she’s Obi-Wan Kenobi’s granddaughter than maybe it does as Kenobi was famously known for having to prepare excruciatingly for any extreme conflict or situation. Only time will tell.
  • Sadness (Weakness, 62/100)- There’s a distinct need for belonging with Rey. Because she was “deserted” by her family, Rey has since struggled to find someone or some people to fill that void. In Han Solo, she absolutely had that sense of belonging restored. But unfortunately when he was cut down, so was a part of Rey. She wears her emotions on her sleeve and that can be most dangerous…

Intangibles

  • Bloodline (Strength, 96/100)- If Rey truly is connected to Luke and Anakin, her veins run rich with the most powerful concentration of midichlorians possible. With that being said, if she is related to Kenobi, well her ceiling is almost just as high. Either way you can’t go wrong. Legends are legends no matter how you twist it.
  • Potential* (Strength, 97/100)- As I did with Ezra Bridger at 21st on the Sith Pacify Power Rankings, Rey has the potential to not only be stronger than Ezra but be one of the most dominant, powerful forces the Galaxy has seen. When she is submersed in the Force, there’s nothing that can stop her. A mix of Luke, Anakin and Obi-Wan is pretty darn potent right!?

Final Word

There’s so much mystery that is Rey. We have barely scratched the surface on who she really is. Could she really be the offspring of the offspring of the chosen one!? Could she be Leia’s daughter!? Or what about being related to the great Obi-Wan Kenobi? It seems that the conspiracy theories with Rey’s family are endless. Regardless, we know one thing for sure. Rey is a masterful beast when she takes control of her powers and delves into the Force. I think the best is yet to come with Rey and I look forward to watching how her story plays out.

The Star Wars Character Power Rankings

For a long time now I’ve wanted to do something like this.

I’ve always been one who deals in absolutes and in doing so, I always liked to stack up the competition against each other and see where everyone stands.

In other words, Star Wars is a vast collection of many diverse characters whom are all extremely powerful.

But who is the strongest? Who is the toughest?

When it came to Star Wars, I always thought about contests like this.

Well, the Sith Pacify Blog has been fairly inactive in the past couple weeks as only a couple posts over that time have been published.

The reason for this being I have been thinking of a way to quantify a power index on who the greatest mainstream characters within the franchise are.

Here’s what I’ve got.

Only Main Characters

As I recently stated, for this list I will only be discussing main characters.

Now, there is a bit of a caveat here.

There is going to be a number of characters within the rankings who can be looked at as “not the most important”.

The reason that some of these characters are to be included is because their style offers a breath of fresh air with their uniqueness and their adversity in respect to the others.

Statistics

I have identified a number of statistics in which I will be classifying each character under.

For each category, there will be a number from 1-100 in which the skills and abilities will be placed under.

For example, someone like Yoda who is clearly one of if not the most powerful of Force-users would have a rating for the category of “Force Abilities” around 95.

For those of you who have ever played sports video games such as Fifa, Madden or 2k, the characters will be ranked in a similar way as the players in the previously stated sporting games.

Intangibles and Abilities

In order to insure individuality, each character will have a couple categories that will be specifically catered to their abilities.

For example, I’ll tell you right now that a character like Kylo Ren will have the category “emotion” listed.

For each category that a character receives, it will be stated whether they help the character or hurt them.

I also want to be clear that the intangibles are not just positive aspects of these characters’ prowess.

They can be a detriment to the individual or a powerful tool used in battle.

Descriptive Style

When I am classifying the powers of the characters, I will not be writing down the backstories for each hero or villain.

Now I might list specific examples but I will not be doing this for every single category.

Simply put, each character will have their abilities described in great detail and will be given a rating depending on their strengths and weaknesses.

The Characters

As I said earlier in this post, I will only be looking at Force-users for this list.

In the future I will most likely add on those who do not have the abilities of the Force to this list but for now, characters like General Grievous and Boba Fett will not be included.

Without further ado, the following list of characters will be those listed within the rankings.

It’s important to note that this list is not in any particular order whatsoever.

  1. Anakin Skywalker
  2. Obi-Wan Kenobi
  3. Yoda
  4. Mace Windu
  5. Darth Vader
  6. Darth Sidious
  7. Count Dooku
  8. Kit Fisto
  9. Darth Maul
  10. Revan
  11. Darth Malgus
  12. Kylo Ren
  13. Rey
  14. Ki-Adi Mundi
  15. Plo Koon
  16. Kanan Jarrus
  17. Ezra Bridger
  18. Ahsoka Tano
  19. Asajj Ventress
  20. Darth Plagueis
  21. Qui-Gon Jinn
  22. Darth Malak
  23. Darth Bane

Well there you have it, my next many many posts will be the Official Sith Pacify Power Rankings.

Hope you all enjoy it.

The Greatness and Underestimation of Obi-Wan Kenobi

The characters that Star Wars has introduced to us range from heroic and masterful wielders of the light, to disciples of the dark.

But when you think of the all-time greats, who comes to mind?

Most definitely Luke Skywalker, Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader.

Outside of the Force-users, Han Solo is not only a fan favorite but about as capable as any Jedi is with a sword of singeing energy.

But think about this, why is it that Obi-Wan Kenobi doesn’t jump to the forefront of this conversation?

I mean, really really think about it…

Obi-Wan appears in every single movie, including The Force Awakens (vocally).

Not only is he in every movie but his contributions to the storyline of Star Wars is critically crucial.

365472_1264449339044_full.jpg

From the very beginning, Kenobi is tasked with training and mentoring the supposed “chosen one”.

His role is given a major boost when his beloved Master is taken far too soon but honestly it was the type of calling that only Obi-Wan could handle.

I think it’s acutely important to point out the ability of Obi-Wan from the very start.

As a young Padawan in Episode I, he was able to overcome the emotionally devastating experience of witnessing his Master’s slaughtering and overcome the odds to best a Sith Lord.

Darth-Maul-Death-Blood.jpg

Darth Maul was supremely better than Kenobi in every single way and should have defeated the young Jedi with relative ease.

Apparently Obi-Wan never got the memo…

By the time Episode II rolls around, Obi Wan’s responsibilities are drastically expanded.

Arguably one of the most trusted Jedi, he’s given various missions that only the most solidified members of the Jedi Order would receive.

Not only does it speak volumes of how versatile he is, but it just shows that his investigatory and detective work are exemplary.

Why is Obi-Wan Kenobi so great?

Physical victories aside, from his discovery of the Republic’s order for a clone army to his revealing of the gathering of Separatist leaders on Geonosis, Keonobi’s contributions to the Galaxy is dynamically impressive.

Don’t forget, Obi-Wan is the first Jedi to learn of the mysterious Dark Lord known as Darth Sidious.

aotc-dooku_obiwan04.jpg

To say that he is versatile does Kenobi an injustice, he is so much more.

When Episode III arrives, Kenobi transitions to an official Jedi Master as he once again is tasked with the most important missions the Jedi Order can facilitate.

It’s also worth noting that the achievements Obi-Wan garnishes in Episode II and III are similar yet vastly different.

I would call the majority of Kenobi’s accomplishments in Episode II interrogative and probing.

In Episode III, the victories turn to bone-crushingly physical.

From taking down the Supreme Commander of the CIS in General Grievous to besting his former apprentice in a fight for the ages, Kenobi certainly does it all.

LightsaberCSWE.jpg

I want to make it clear how inconceivable the outcome of the Skywalker/Kenobi bout really was…

In all of Star Wars from the expanded universe to the original trilogy, there has never been another being as supremely gifted in every possible way as Anakin Skywalker.

From his command of the Force, to his 6’1 frame and his incomparable skills with a lightsaber, there’s is no one who is even close of a match against Anakin.

Except Obi-Wan.

There’s one reason why Kenobi was victorious.

The Jedi Master’s greatest skill was not with a lightsaber, it was not with his Force abilities and it wasn’t in his competence as a warrior.

Obi-Wan Kenobi’s most vaunted ability was his capabilities to stay within the moment.

The Emperor once famously said the term “Lack of vision.”

One thing is for sure, you’ll never hear anyone say that to Obi-Wan.

He knew that he had no chance against Anakin, yes he knew.

But by putting others before himself and understanding the ultimatum of win or lose for the fate of the Galaxy.

The fact is, he didn’t care about his own safety or his own welfare.

Anakin was his own creation. Obi-Wan knew he failed him as a Master, as a friend and as a brother.

He felt it was his responsibility to eliminate the twisted creature that was once his closest and most trusted ally.

Ani-Obi-obi-wan-kenobi-and-anakin-skywalker-33578708-690-433.jpg

It was up to him to put an end to this monstrosity…and he most certainly did.

open-uri20150608-27674-1byny23_c7ffde9f-e1434743170377.jpeg

But at the end of Episode III, he begins possibly his most vital quest of his vaunted life.

When he drops off Luke on Tatooine, he offically transitions from warrior to mentor.

Before I continue, I just want to point out how awesome this guy is.

Who could possibly do what Kenobi did??

No one!

He does it all. From teacher, to negotiator, to warrior and now to a mentor.

From being in the center of the universe and in the midst of almost every single matter in the Galaxy on Coruscant to seeing about 20 different people over an entire year on Tatooine, Kenobi is impressive to say the least.

Not even Yoda survived the trials and tribulations of exile as we see his mind diminish significantly.

In A New Hope, Obi-Wan sees the culmination of his life materialize as he trains the offspring of his former apprentice.

As Episodes IV, V and VI continue, it is Obi-Wan who remains a constant influence in Luke as he can claim responsibility in transforming this average farm boy into the most important figure of all.

But as I mentioned earlier, Obi-Wan Kenobi’s presence can even be felt in The Force Awakens.

Although it’s just a line or two, it just further proves my point on how important Kenobi is to Star Wars as a whole.

As Rey touches the lightsaber of Anakin Skywalker, she is blindsided by the Force as a mysterious vision comes about.

“Rey?” and “You’ve taken your first steps” can be heard, both said by Obi-Wan.

Interestingly enough, the younger “prequels” Kenobi and the “original trilogy” Ben Kenobi each has a line.

The significance of this being that both sides of Obi-Wan are as vital and important as anything.

1451830400756.jpg

Going forward, I think it’s a safe bet that the great Obi-Wan Kenobi will have some role in Episodes VIII and IX.

I know Luke is the popular choice for “most important” and I know others would say Anakin for the same category.

But my money is on the man with the resiliency to never give up and with enough vision to achieve the impossible.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is as good as it gets, he very well could be, the greatest.

The Greatness of Ren

The Force Awakens brought us many great things.

But in my mind, the greatest of the great is the now infamous, Kylo Ren.

kylo_ren_fest_1050_591_81_s_c1

When he first descended from his command shuttle and stood at the end of the ramp within the shadows, I knew this guy meant business.

Now I know I’m not alone with these sentiments.

Kylo Ren has intrigued the fan base and became the franchise’s next IT factor.

But, why?

What makes him so captivating?

For starters, his emotion.

There is a searing scorching inferno booming in Kylo Ren’s heart.

The man is directed by emotion and motivated by his feelings.

THAT is what jumped out at me immediately.

You can hear it in his voice, you can see it in his actions and you can see it in his decisions he makes.

There’s a reason why characters like Darth Sidious and Darth Vader were so popular in the past and Kylo Ren is no different.

Bathed in cryptic secrecy, the voice of this hooded man immensely adds to the already dynamic allure of Kylo Ren.

When you first hear the sinister voice of Ren, right away you want to hear more.

cfzkxktsvsx4uevphams.jpg

As he talks to Lor San Tekka at the beginning of the movie, the conversation just got better and better.

Hearing Ren respond with that deep confidence that makes up his voice was intense.

There’s just something about a helmet wearing character that’s talking through a speaking apparatus that is so tantalizing!

star-wars-7-force-awakens-kylo-ren-vader-mask.jpg

Another aspect of Kylo Ren that makes him a prime candidate in popularity is his bloodline.

When you are the grandson of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, the nephew of Luke Skywalker and the son of Han Solo…you’re a pretty big deal.

The entire basis of Star Wars is predicated off of the Skywalker family tree.

With that being said, Kylo Ren is the newest member introduced to the fans that fits this category.

But infused with his high profile relatives is the unknown. We know so little about Kylo Ren and why his relationship with his family ended so badly.

And yes, it ended badly…

hqdefault

Now this might not be as major of a reason why he’s so popular as his emotions or his family, but it still plays a pretty big role.

The infamy of Ren’s lightsaber has enamored everyone and anyone from our first glimpse of it back when it was first released.

KyloRenLightsaber.png

For starters, its unique handle bars of fire-crackling energy sets it apart.

Never before have we seen anything remotely close to this.

But that’s not all.

You see, Kylo Ren’s lightsaber is so much more than that.

It’s an extension of himself, almost another limb of his body or his spirit.

The Jedi preach that your lightsaber is more than just a tool, in fact they say exactly what I said in terms of a lightsaber and it being an “extension” of oneself.

You have to look at this blade more closely.

Look at any other lightsaber in the history of Star Wars.

anakin-skywalker-lightsaber-copy-blue.jpg

They’re all powerful solid beams that exude elegance and simplicity.

Now Ren’s blade is vastly different.

I’ve explained it many times before on here but it’s worth mentioning again and again.

His lightsaber is so unpredictable. You can practically see surging energy flow up and down the blade in a spiral motion.

When I think of this weapon, the word “unstable” quickly comes to mind.

IMG_2920

I think this is done on purpose as well.

It’s a reflection of the blade’s wielder more than anything.

A conflicted, hurting man he is and his lighsaber is the perfect compliment to this already diabolical concoction known as Kylo Ren.

Last but not least, the final piece of Kylo Ren’s mental makeup that sets him apart from others is his unforeseen future.

So similar to Anakin is Kylo Ren, so very alike in many ways yet polar opposites in others.

Ren’s “Padmé ” in all of this is his grip on the Dark Side.

The conversation he had with his father right before he dove his blade through Han’s chest was inexplicably telling.

He feels the pull to the light, there is no doubt about that.

But his desire to remain in the darkness, to finish what his grandfather started is his main goal, his priority.

He repeatedly pledges his allegiance to the mystifying Supreme Leader Snoke and this only adds to his aura.

Who is Snoke? Is he Darth Plagueis?

The saga of Ren will inevitably lead us to these answers and many more.

For now, we’re left with many unforunate unanswered questions.

But one thing is for sure, Kylo Ren is as fascinating as he is compelling.

I can’t wait to see more of this guy, one of my new favorite characters.

The Mystifying Secrecy Behind Supreme Leader Snoke

As the weeks pass by and The Force Awakens slowly drifts into the rear view mirror, it’s time to look into the many mysteries surrounding the film.

This post will investigate the unexplained and unknown circumstances regarding the leader of The First Order, Supreme Leader Snoke.

For starters, there’s not much on him.

He is a powerful leader who is the Master of Kylo Ren, formally known as Ben Solo.

The little more I can tell you about this figure is strictly taken from the movie and the novel.

Besides those depictions of this figure, he virtually does not exist.

We know he observed the rise and fall of The Galactic Empire.

We also know that Snoke had several apprentices before he zoned in on the Skywalker family.

As for his species or his origins, they are unknown.

maxresdefault.jpg

Now for my opinion.

The character of Supreme Leader Snoke is unequivocally brilliant.

But with the tinge of unknown that he represents, this creature brings a whole new element of fascination and intrigue.

It’s time for me to address what many many people have been wondering…

Is Supreme Leader Snoke the former Master and thought dead Darth Plagueis?

Well, I don’t know.

But I will consider the facts.

There is very little to base anything off of.

All theories regarding Plaugeis is a shot in the dark.

In April 2014, Disney announced that all material besides the movies and The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels television series is no longer canon…

Future novels after that date will also be considered canon.

Now I just want to say I am highly disappointed with this move by Disney and I’m still very unhappy with it to this day…

But that’s another story for another time.

What this does however is it makes it impossible to understand if Snoke is Plagueis or not.

Now I should clarify something.

Disney reserved the right to pick and choose certain pieces from material before April 2014 to be canon.

It’s just the general idea that unless told otherwise, it is not canon.

Understand this, we have a bit of a loophole around this however.

Since all the movies are canon then we are certain that Darth Plagueis was indeed killed by Sidious….

Or so we think.

andy-serkis-star-wars-character-revealed-428854.jpg

Within James Luceno’s novelization of Darth Plagueis, he goes about telling the life story of the master of Darth Sidious.

Now at the time of this novel’s completion (2012) it was consistent with Episode III.

What that means is this book, the ONLY book describing the mysterious Darth Plagueis could in fact be true and thus canon.

I believe this for two reasons.

  1. There is so little information on Plagueis that it doesn’t make sense for them to just completely scrap the only written material about him.
  2. Since the Episode III is along the same lines as the Plagueis’ novel, his details should remain the same. At least the important ones such as his death, his abilities, his characteristics etc.

For this post, I’m going to act as if the novel “Darth Plagueis” IS complete canon.

Because I think it is and should be.

So I’ll ask this again.

Is Supreme Leader Snoke Darth Plagueis?

Why Snoke is and isn’t Plagueis

Darth Plagueis was one of the most powerful wielders of the Dark Side the Galaxy has ever seen.

His talents and focus were surrounding his never ending pursuit of eternal life.

Within the novel of “Darth Plagueis”, he is shown to have an ability to influence the midi-chlorians to preserve life.

What if Sidious did kill Plagueis…or so he thought.

Wouldn’t it be plausible for Plagueis to somehow be able to save himself due to his incredible and unique force powers?

Absolutely.

Here’s the problem.

Someone as powerful as Darth Sidious would have definitely discovered this.

There’s no way he would not have known, felt, seen or whatever you want to say regarding his Master.

But here’s another idea.

What if somehow someway, Plagueis was awoken when Sidious was killed?

Now don’t ask me how but I think there is some truth to this.

If you look at Snoke, he looks as if he is an animated corpse.

Well what if he is?

It would fit the storyline.

Something else that is fairly significant to Snoke being Plagueis is the massive facial scarring on the right side of his face.

Within the Darth Plagueis novel, he survives an assassination attempt.

He however does sustain severe injuries, one of these injuries being a slit throat.

Supreme Leader Snoke’s facial structure is absolutely consistent with this depiction…

What’s more, Darth Plagueis was widely known to be seen only through holovids as opposed to being present in person near the end of his life.

Notice how in The Force Awakens Snoke is strictly a hologram…another similarity.

Finally, the last similarity between these two iconic figures is Star Wars history.

It is two likely and similar between Snoke and Plagueis that they are somehow not the same person.

Also, where did this sudden leader of the Dark Side, the remnants of the Empire and controller of the Skywalker line come from?

Way too alike for it not to be him…

So why is Snoke not Plagueis?

One of the main reasons is the picture below.

The figure on the right was the InterGalactic Banking Clan’s Chairman, San Hill.

He was in charge of the IGBC’s finances throughout The Clone Wars.

The significance of this picture being that San Hill is of the Muun species, the same as Darth Plagueis.

If Snoke was indeed Plagueis, he would look more consistent to Hill.

Now there could be a bit of deception here however.

For starters, this picture of Snoke is a bit lifelike.

It might be too hard to compare this particular picture with another Muun but for argument purposes it is clear that these two are not of the same species.

Now the picture taken directly from TFA earlier in the post of Snoke looks a lot more similar to San Hill but it is still far from certain.

Nonetheless, unless JJ Abrams decided to reinvent the Muun race’s appearance, Snoke is not Plagueis.

Conclusion

To be honest, I really don’t know what I think.

But I will say this.

I think Snoke will end up being Darth Plagueis just for the fact that he’s far too alike with Plagueis for him not to be.

Other than that, I really can’t say if he is him or not.

I guess this will be determined later, much later.
